Stronger together
Sector-wide problems call for sector-wide solutions involving all actors along the global cocoa value chain. The Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa (SWISSCO) is an association created to share knowledge and find common solutions, involving stakeholders from across the Swiss cocoa industry.
Strong partnerships and collaborative actions are needed to tackle the challenges in the cocoa sector. To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, all stakeholders must join forces. This is why the Swiss chocolate manufacturers, cocoa traders, food retailers, the federal government, represented by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), non-profit organizations and research institutions founded the association Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa (SWISSCO) in January 2018. Our members are committed to sharing their responsibility, setting common goals, implementing joint projects and initiatives, exchanging knowledge and experience, and to tracking progress using an internationally harmonized monitoring system.
The Cocoa Platform builds on the 2012 Global Cocoa Agenda, which called on both producer and consumer countries to bring together the multitude of previously uncoordinated initiatives through inclusive and participatory approaches involving all stakeholders in the cocoa value chain. As a member of the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO), Switzerland adopted this agenda in 2012 and committed to strengthening national multi-stakeholder forums.
